The Environmental Conservation Lab at the University of Manitoba leads interdisciplinary research focused on environmental justice, food sovereignty, and energy equity, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with Indigenous, refugee, and rural communities. Our current projects integrate both social and biological sciences to address the impacts of environmental degradation, resource extraction, and climate change. Through initiatives like Indigenous CREATE and Discovery Horizons, the lab supports community-led monitoring, traditional knowledge systems, and holistic approaches to water quality, land use, and biodiversity. Our work aims to empower communities, promote data sovereignty, and foster sustainable, culturally grounded solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
